Welcome To: Tye's List
From early 1994, I've been working on my own projects. No matter how small, No matter how ridiculous, they were still made. This site contains almost 90% of my personal short's done throughout 13 years, 5 of which have been spent in Hollywood California. Please enjoy this rather LONG list of shorts and don't forget, these only represent my PERSONAL videos, not ones made for clients. These projects had ZERO budget and all were made without the use of any script. This list is cataloged by year of project, more recent being at the top. Please enjoy and share with others if you want.

Rider to Racer

20 Min

This documentary chronicles the beginning of my racing career. Its a great in-depth look at the steps it takes to full fill a dream. In this case, it was shot entirely by Dan Shaw, who spent many a weekend with me on the track, shooting video. Initially it was suppose to be a much longer piece, but was cut down to the simplest form possible for final release.
This short comedy is the most recent addition too my short films. Shot in summer/fall of 2006 over the course of 2 weekends, this completely unscripted piece was a concept not far from the truth. What would happen if you were too loose your high profile life and be caught in the gutter? How simple is it too lose your life as you know it? "The Baglady Diary's" explores this subject matter in a light funny manor.

BMW Hat Video

1min 30sec

This short comedy is what sparked "The Baglady Diary's" and was cute enough too present outside of the longer diary's video. Shot the weekend BEFORE diary's, its a great beginning to a fantastic character.

Litterbug

22min

This short film was a fantastic attempt to create a series of short "silent" films called "Trim Bin Movies". The short was directed and Edited by my good friend Stacie Dekker and produced/shot by myself. Its not like my normal shorts, because it introduces another Director to the mix. Stacies talent for funny stories and clever writing, makes it comes to life with character flair instead of dialog. Stacie and Alexey Mohr worked for weeks developing the story, which stars Alexey and Abagail Young. The version depicted here is not the final version, but a rough on-line cut. We never had the time as a collective group to finish the audio mix and color correction. Never the less, this is an important short that deserves the credit of being here.

BMW M Roadster Short

BMW M Roadster Video

20 min

My passion for cars turned into something a bit larger when I stared shooting the M Roadster video's. The story of re-building my car and of course a drive around my favorite canyons, seemed to be the best way to relay my love for BMW's. The first video is a short, which was cut to demo the camera system used in the video. Its sped up substantially to make it more interesting. The second video is a 12 minute piece which goes into great detail on what's at stake when re-building your car and what I went through to make my M Roadster queen of the street. There are other BMW related videos on my BMW site.

Tye's Ultimate Freestyle video's. Between fall of 2005 and summer 2006, over 8 product and commercial videos were made based on Indian Creek Designs Freestyle paintball marker. These videos were shot exclusively using team members from Team:Remix and were mainly for marketing purposes. Sadly soon after the last video was made, the paintball market slowed down enough that selling paintball markers became unpratical and the company was "disbanded". Enjoy this list of fantastic marketing and technical videos.

Team:Remix, The Beginning

5min

Working every day in the paintball industry brings together some interesting videos. This video is one of my favorite and was the last paintball video I ever produced. Based on Team:Remix who was my paintball team at the time, its a promo for the team and sponsors. Sadly the team broke up soon after this video was completed.
Working directly with Arnold Fransisco from The Oalkand Assassins, this very personal TV series entitled "Behind the Net™" was suppose to be my ticket into the paintball world. Working with such great people got my hopes up that something might come of this show. From Oakland Assassins all the way to the Portland Naughtydogs, everybody wanted in on this new TV series that really showed audiences what its like to be a paintballer. Interestingly enough, the first episode was so rough and hard-core, teams actually did not like the message it gave across. For the first time, professional paintballers could see themselves in a different light. Not liking this light, they fought me and this ended what could have become a successful TV series. Being as busy as I was at the time with my new paintball company on the horizon, I decided to drop the show and make 3 trailers for the 3 shot episodes. The first trailer is a 10 minute spot which was honored as being one of the best videos of 05. Episode 2 and 3 are actual trailers to shows that are shot, but won't ever be edited.
Right after Noob with an Angel, there needed to be a more professional paintball video made. Sadly it was still silly and never quite worked for me. This video used a tun of techniques learned from Noob with an Angel like overhead shots and multiple stedi-cam shots mid game. Of course, just like Noob, this video has very little paint flying in the air.
Everybody has there successful video and Noob with an Angel was my personal success story. This was my first commercially viable video, even though its rough around the edges and is very silly at times, it was never meant to be seen by anybody else but my friends. Once everybody had seen it locally, the video took on a new life online. After over 1/2 million hits in less then a month, we decided to remove the video from my server to never be seen again. Now its back online and you can once again see how a noobie can really save the day.
Using the skills I learned in college and in my previous paintball videos, this video was made all about the transition between outdoor woods paintball too the new indoor world. Its short, its sweet and its easy to follow. Shot over the course of many hours at the indoor whilst either too tired from playing all day OR too sick to play at all. The indoor field was more of a hang out, then a place to play and sometimes more video was shot then paintballs fired. This video was the last of 3 shot at the indoor.

Angel Speed Video

Planet Ecipse Ego Video

At the same time my career in paintball was starting to excellerate, I worked with a great guy and a shop making some marketing videos for his company in late 2004. These videos would be the the basis for how I marketed my freestyles in years to come. They were shot on a whim with no script and only the incredibly fast paintball markers too keep the kids attention while watching. Again, short, sweet and too the point, both these videos were initially received well enough to continue the marketing structure I knew so well.
This was the last SCUBA video produced before stumbling into paintball. It was shot the last week in Boston before moving to Los Angeles. It was also the first video too be edited in Los Angeles on my relatively used G4 before running out of money and having to sell the computer. This simple short was something I'd always wanted to accomplish and there had to be a pool involved so the waters surface could be still. It took a lot of hard work in the dark pool room too complete this pretty complex shoot. Me myself an I were the only ones involved and all the pans/tilts/zooms are done in post, which was a first for me.

Straightfly SCUBA Intro

Straightfly New England Diving video

Produced over the course of a year, these two new england SCUBA promo's were probably some of the best independent work I've ever done. The project started as a favor too my friend Matthew Houghton who owned Straightfly Excursions, but it eventually turned into a much larger project and made us long time friends. Aired on broadcast television several times over the course of a year, the longer of the two "New England Diving" is a very in depth look at what scuba diving in New England is really like. Sadly, these videos were never shown to Straightfly students, though they were seen all over the world through the Straightfly web site. These videos and the footage that stemmed from them were the basis for all my other SCUBA videos before and after.

Jaws 2000 trailer

Folly Cove Video

These are interesting videos for several reasons. One of them is, it's the LAST time I had used a linear editing system. Its also the first of several videos I'd shoot on the subject of SCUBA diving. This video is complied from footage shot on the month of me being a certified SCUBA diver, a year or so before I started working on the Straightfly videos. Its not an incredible video, or a momentous video, but its kind of kool to watch the progression between this and the straightfly videos. The first bit you'll see is a teaser trailer for "jaws 2000" which I had initially thought was kind of kool.

One of my favorite songs from the Beatles, Elenatore Rigby has been a song I'd always want to make a video about. At the age of 14 I made my first attempt which is the first of 2. The transfer you see here is 8th generation and the only thing that remains of the short shot on Betamax.

Right after christmas of 1999, during the break seemed a perfect time to re-shoot and edit an entirely new version of Elenanore Rigby. Of course, like the first one, it was not thought out too much, shoot some footage and see what happens. It was the last music video shot in 1999. The re-do was shot on location on the Wellesley College campus. The re-mix of the Eleanore rigby song was done using Logic and mixed in 24bit.

This is the second music video shot in 2000 and my most infamous music video ever. Shot and edited within 24 hours, this was a test of my agility too go from concept too completion with 1 person at the helm in one day. We started shooting this project on a friday night and were done by saturday night with the final cut. Shot on location in Boston and Wellesley Massachusetts, we used several techniques to bring home the "cinematic" look without having to hire a crew OR spend a dime on production. This short cost us zero dollars and proved you can do anything if you put your mind too it.
The first of 3 music videos shot in 2000 was probably the easiest to make. Shot in one evening and edited the day after, this music video has lights, generators and a few more people behind the camera then probably need to be. We shot this entire video the night of my 21st birthday and it would end up being the beginning of a great line of music videos too be produced in the future.
Based on the doors "Alabama Song" this music video was shot in conjunction with one of the many colleges I attended. The idea stemmed from me wanting to experiment with contrast ratios of video. This video was also the LAST time I'd ever use analog video cameras to shoot any of my personal projects. From this day on DV/DVCAM were the main formats of choice. It was a 2 day shoot, though only 1 day of it ended up working properly due to a camera malfunction. This video was shot by me, but I had nothing to do with the editing process. It was originally edited on a 3/4" linear editing system. The original 1998 cut can be seen along with a non-linear re-cut done in 2006.

More to come in 2009, Stay tuned!
